What is Relay for Life?
It is a nationwide program supported by American Cancer Society. Around 4 million people have come forward to donate funds for the treatment of patients . The society gives awards to people who donate for their support.
The Cancer Survivors Group in Second Life was formed in 2006 to walk the first "survivor lap" at the second annual Relay for Life. Since then, they have the honor of walking the opening lap. The Event Chair is Nikki Mathieson and the Event Co-Chairs are Dwen Dooley, himself a cancer survivor, and Serina Juran. Click here for more information on History of RFL in Second Life. This is the third annual Christmas Expo which is spread over 4 sims for 10 days backed by gold, silver, event and sim sponsors.
What would you see at the Christmas Expo, 2013?
The RFL 2013 Christmas Expo is presented with the theme of Victorian Village. This village square surrounds 4 sims, and 82 exhibitors are waiting. The best way to explore such a vast place is by opening the map. With Live entertainment at the stage on the sim of Wonder, or the theater and Santa on the sim of Hope, a tree lot on the sim of Peace, and Ice Skating and Builder's Brewery Classes on the sim of Joy; the Expo will offer you fruits of festivities. The line of events is possible because of the support of sponsors: Black Tulip; DaD Designs; LivGlam; and PurpleMoon Creations and event sponsors: Dysfunctional Designs; Potomac Signature Homes; the House of Avro; and Bentley Homes.
Apart from the major events like the breedable fair, avi choice awards, raffle couture; there will be hunt for the bells, naughty and nice giveaway gifts followed by music, happy dance and formal balls. The details of the events have been summed up for you.
The fair has opened on 1st and will continue till December 15th,2013. This year's RFL Breedable Collectors Auction presents one-of-a-kind items from the biggest names. All proceeds of the auction would benefit RFL. Over 30 exhibitors are participating. Click here to get the list.

There will a Silent Auction from December 3rd to December 7th, 2013.The highest bid will be the starting bid for Live Auction on Sunday December 8th, 2013. The Live Auction will be streaming live across Second Life. Apart from the auction, there will be entertainment shows.

Avi Choice Awards
The Avi Choice awards is an annual awards presentation recognizing people with talent in Second Life. The rewarded people are voted by residents. In the last two years over 65,000 people voted. The award ceremony will be held in on December 15th at 3:00 PM SLT. It is a formal/black tie event. The Event is sponsored by Sweethearts Jazz Club, who have contributed 2.4 million lindens to charities like Creations for Parkinson's, The Alzheimer Association other than Relay for Life. If you wish to attend the function purchase the tickets as soon as possible.

Couture Raffle
The well known personality, COO of BOSL (The Best of Second Life Magazine) and CEO of Miss Virtual World Academy, Frolic Mills continues to be generous by donating the Miss Virtual World Couture to the Christmas Expo Raffle.A total of 62 designs are donated by models on behalf of the designers.
Holiday of Hope Ball
The annual formal ball set up with a Victorian theme will be held in celebration of hope on December 14th, 2013 at 4:00 PM SLT. Trader Whiplash and Nuala Maracas would be playing for couples to dance to the tunes.
Expo Theater
Yes, you read it right. There would be theater play on December 11th,2013 at 4:00 PM SLT and December 12th, 2013 at 12:00PM and 2:00PM SLT. The play is produced by The Quill & Quarrel. They have entertained over 600 people with 31 performances and have a published a book called, "In-world is Our Stage"
Margaret Edson, the playwright says " The play is not about doctors or even about cancer. Its about kindness, but it shows arrogance. Its about compassion, but it shows insensitivity." The play will be performed through text, voice and act.
