In my post 10th Relay Season has Begun, I talked about an upcoming event The Second Life Kick - off Journey. For those who are new to Relay for Life, it is an effort taken by the American Cancer Society to raise funds for the Cancer patients. To learn more about Relay For Life, click the page.
A journey started by Dr. Gordy Klatt relaying for 24 hours raising $27,000 covering 83 miles in 1986, had an impact on Second Life in 2004. The first relay for life in second life, 2004 raised $2000. In 2005, Jade Lilly started the relay and covered 817 laps raising $5,000. Since 2004, Relay for Life Second Life has raised more than $200,000.
What to expect in this Kick-Off Journey?
7th March, 2014 - Journey through the continents starting at 12 noon SLT.
8th March, 2014 - Planning and other committees will formally start the Journey of Promise. Followed by Djs, live music, kissing booths etc.
9th March, 2014 - Dance troupe performance in the morning, Family Feud game between the teams and the committee.
